Who Is Carrabassett Coffee Company?
The village of Kingfield, Maine, is known for picture-perfect woods, skiing, and the Stanley Museum. The birthplace of the one and only famous “Stanley Steamer.” Kingsfield is home to about 1000 people and claims about 38 square miles of space from its center.
But skiing, lovely scenery, and history are not all this Georgian-style town has to offer. Tucked away inside is a hidden gem of a coffee roastery loved by locals, travelers, and coffee coinsures alike: Carrabassett Coffee.

Carrabassett Coffee Company Overview
They are situated in Kingfield near the Sugarloaf ski resort. And they say that they would not want to live or roast their famous coffee anywhere else. Who can blame them? Living next to the clear Carrabassett River, the roastery’s namesake is almost dreamlike.
Carrabassett is a specialty coffee roaster that uses only the highest quality of beans available for their complex blends and supple single-origin coffees. Nothing but the best will do.
What Is Their Mission?
They do not have a formal company mission posted anywhere, but after drying a few blends, it’s clear that quality and flavor top their priorities. But if you look close enough at their signage and merchandise, you’ll see one phrase repeated over and over:
“Drink Good Coffee”
That says it all.
What Kinds Of Coffee Does Carrabasset Have?

Carrabassett Coffee has an overwhelming assortment of coffees to choose from. There are at least 120 flavors and blends.
They have the usual suspects like Caffeinated coffee, decaffeinated, light, medium, dark roast, and espresso, of course.
You’ll also be able to snag MOFGA Certified Organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified, flavored, and even custom blends if desired.
Their coffees, either single-origin or blends, from several regions cover just about anyone’s taste buds.
You’ll find coffees from many well-known regions available:
- Brazil
- Sulawesi
- Costa Rica

Where Can You Buy Carrabassett Coffee?
If you are looking for a taste of their coffee, you will find plenty of establishments across Maine and New England. You can find it at several local shops, inns, grocers, and eateries.
But beyond that, you’ll have to buy from their store online or their roastery and retail stores. Their retail shop, Java Joe’s, is near the Sugarloaf ski area, and their latest store, Java Joe’s Corner, is in Farmington, Maine, on the corner of Main and Church Street.
Keep in mind that Java Joe’s near Sugarloaf is only open during ski season, which runs from early November to mid-May.
Their retail locations offer visitors a full selection of their famous roasts, along with special shop discounts for coffee-thirsty travelers and frequenters. So if you are in the area, it’s worth a stop.
What Makes Carrabassett Coffee Roasters Stand Out from Others?
They are a standout, not just because it’s unexpected to find a roaster in this area, but more so to find such an excellent one.
Their drive to produce nothing but the finest coffee using premium beans from the most renowned resources around the globe lends to making everyone’s cup an excellent one.
As mentioned earlier, they cover a broad range of coffees and have something for everyone.
If you are not in the area, they ship anywhere in the lower 48 states, and if you are out of that area, you are not out of luck. So you can give them a call and work out an arrangement so that you can get your hands on their unique blends.

Yelp Reviews:
Not only have I ordered online and had Carrabassett Coffee sent to Florida but now I can say I drove to Maine to bring back the best coffee around. This time I picked up some flavors for friends and family and am about to order some more online.
This is the best coffee, great flavors, do yourself a favor and get the whole bean and only ground it to order to keep the freshness. The customer service is awesome and can not wait to bring more Maine to Florida.

I tasted this coffee on my last trip to Maine and have loved it ever since. Just want you to know that the people there take their business very personally and really believe in customer service. I order online and they are Wonderful about taking care of what I want. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Is Carrabassett Coffee Worth The Trip?
If you are driving through Maine and happen to be near, or near enough, to Kingsfield, it’s definitely worth the ride to stop by Carrabassett. Get a bag of beans to take with you or have them ground so you can have coffee during your visit to Maine.
If you aren’t in the area and want to explore coffee outside of the big chain coffee shops, order some from them online.
